Pocket Frogs is a collector's dream come true. This free iPhone app is simple, yet engaging with lively graphics and vivid colors. It's easy to play and quite addicting as you focus on finding and creating new breeds of frogs and satisfying the requirements for the specific collections outlined by the game.

At the start the game you're given two frogs of common breed and basic color (one green and one brown) and a single dirt habitat for them to live in. To make them happy, you take them one at a time to the pond where, with a tap of your finger, you jump them from one lily pad to another catching and eating dragonflies.

While your frog is at the pond, he encounters other frogs available for breeding. Once a match is made you are given an egg, which is placed in your nursery. There it rapidly grows and hatches another tiny frog. Soon you have several frogs of different color combinations hopping around your habitat and waiting for their chance to visit the pond!

At the pond your frog also discovers wrapped packages that have been scattered among the lily pads. These gifts can contain new frogs for your collection, coins for purchasing supplies, or items for your habitat that increase the frogs' well-being. An added feature allows you to enter your frog in a race or solve a puzzle to increase his happiness level.

As your frogs take turns visiting the pond, eating, breeding and unwrapping presents, you are steadily working toward achieving the next gaming level where you can create another habitat for your burgeoning amphibian population. Then you can start sorting your frogs into collections, easily moving frogs from one habitat to another. With each new level, you also unlock new and more varied frog breeds. New variations increase the rarity and value of your collection.

The game automatically takes stock of the frogs you've collected with its "Froggydex" and includes a notebook of sorts for cataloging your rarer frog breeds. It also offers point rewards when collections are completed and gathered into a single habitat.

The game is interactive and will sometimes make a request for a particular frog and reward you for your help in supplying it. An added feature is the ability to trade frogs with other Pocket Frogs players by connecting with them and setting them up as neighbors via your online gaming center.
